THE HAIR
Is Autarky braiding hair really itch-free?
The alkalinity is treated out before the hair is packed, and alkaline fibre is what causes that burning, itchy feeling in the first days after an install. The hair is also pre-moisturised, so it goes in soft rather than scratchy.
Is it human hair or synthetic?
100% Kanekalon, a premium synthetic fibre made for protective styles. It is lightweight, pre-stretched and cruelty-free — no animal products at any stage.
Will the color fade?
No. Every shade is ACV washed and holds through washing and wear, which is why the brights still read bright at the end of an install rather than going dull.
Are the bright colors safe on my scalp?
Yes. The colors are ACV washed and scalp-friendly, including the bold ones, and the same anti-itch treatment applies to every shade.
What else do you make besides braiding hair?
Alongside Autarky Plain and Autarky Blend, we carry Marley twist, spring twist, silky curly, silky straight and high heat fibre, plus gift cards.
CHOOSING YOUR LINE
What is the difference between Autarky Plain and Autarky Blend?
Plain is a single saturated tone across 44 shades with a sleek, smooth finish. Blend runs 2 to 6 colors through every strand across 79 shades, so the color shifts as it catches the light.
How many packs do I need?
Recommended 3 to 5 packs depending on desired fullness.
What lengths do you sell?
Plain comes in 14", 18" and 24". Blend comes in 16", 18" and 24".
What does a pack cost?
Autarky Plain is $15.75 to $17.43 a pack and Autarky Blend is $16.57 to $17.13, depending on length and shade.

How do I pick from 123 shades?
Send us a photo instead of guessing. Color Match Pro takes a daylight photo of your skin tone, current install or a saved look, plus a line about the style you want, and a specialist replies within 24 hours with a shortlist. Your photos are seen only by our specialists.
Can I mix two shades in one install?
Yes, and many customers do — a Blend pack alongside a Plain in one of its tones is the usual way people get depth without the whole head reading as one color. Ask the specialists and they will pair them for you.
CARE AND REUSE
Can I use heat on it?
No flat irons or dryers. To seal the ends, dip them in hot water — that sets the finish neatly without damaging the fibre.
How do I wash and store it?
Wash gently with a mild shampoo, use a little mousse or leave-in conditioner to keep it fresh, and store it somewhere cool and dry between styles.
Can I reuse the hair?
Yes. With that care, many customers reuse their packs for a second install.

Ground shipping starts at $7.99 and is free on orders over $100. Every order is tracked.
Can I track my order?

What if the wrong item arrives?
Email support@autarkybeauty.com within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and clear photos, and we will replace it. Because braiding hair is a hygiene product, opened packs cannot be returned or exchanged.
